Created in 1963, Simmob (for Société Industrielle des Meubles Modernes Biais) is a family-owned furniture manufacturing company based in Charente-Maritime.
Apprentice carpenter and joiner, then craftsman in his own name in the early 50’s, it was in his native village of Fontaine-Chalendray that Jean Biais created the workshop manufacture of small pieces of furniture which gave birth to Simmob company.
In 1968 he had a 1344m2 factory and his house built in Matha, its current location. The company then employed 32 people and quickly adopted an industrial production process by developing its blockbuster product: Roll-top cabinets. Since then, the factory kept expanding, increasing its ranges of products and diversifying, with the creation, in 1992, of a brand dedicated to professional office furniture, Burocean
Managed by Thérèse Biais since her husband passed away, Simmob celebrated 60 years in 2023! It now runs 16 000 m2 of worshops, logistics buildings and commercial premises, employs nearly 100 people and produces a wide collection of modern design melamine wood furniture for office, home office, living room, kitchen, storage…
